As a youth and teenager, Pastor Williamson pursued a baseball career and enjoyed a measure of success as a pitcher for Irmo high school. He had a promising future in baseball, but the Lord had other plans. In 1987, at the age of sixteen, Pastor Steve came to Gethsemane Baptist church and was saved. He was called to preach about three months later.
His wife Jennifer grew up at Gethsemane and was saved in January of 1992. She and Pastor Steve were married in June of 1993. Immediately following marriage, they served as missionaries in the Turks and Caicos Islands for four years. They then returned to serve in their home church for some years, and Pastor Steve became the assistant pastor. In 2003, Pastor Steve became the senior pastor of Gethsemane Baptist Church.
Pastor Steve and Jennifer have four children Scott (Rianna), Katie, Jonathan, and Benjamin who actively serve with them in the ministry.
